2021 McLaren Vale Bracken Shiraz

$42.00

Booding, Intense + Powerful.

Blackberries, plums, and red mulberries immediately present themselves; a medley of lovely intense fruits from the darker end of the spectrum are here in full force. Complemented by brawny notes of tobacco leaf and slow roasted meats, the flavour profile never ventures into jammy territory, rather, the melange between the savoury and the intensely fruit forward are perfectly balanced.

Wine Notes

Crushed straight to an open fermenter, this wild yeast ferment is gently plunged twice daily. Spending just over a week on skins, vibrant colour and firm tannin structure are at the forefront of the flavour profile. Complementing the bold fruit is considerable time maturing in barrel; 14 months in 60% new French oak allowing for seamless integration of spice, fruit, and structure.

Vineyard

Hand harvested from the top and middle sections of the Bracken vineyard Shiraz block where shallow sandy topsoil covers compacted clay. This soil offers little nutrition for our Shiraz fruit and is difficult for roots to penetrate through, resulting in fruit of intense flavour concentration.

Food Pairing

This classic example of McLaren Vale Shiraz calls for a classic pairing. A scotch fillet cooked over fire, and local vegetables roasted to perfection.

Cellaring

Drinking beautifully now but will reward the patient for the next 10-15+ years.
