2021 McLaren Vale Bracken Grenache

$42.00

Pretty, Complex + Alluring

A partial whole bunch ferment contributes herbal lift and ethereal lightness to this elegant wine. Fresh bramble character melds with raspberry coulis, violet florals and dried bay leaves. At once graceful and refined, the concentration of fruit flavours and fine tannin ensure a fierce, and powerful finish.

Wine Notes

Hand harvested from the middle and top sections of our Grenache block, perfectly ripe fruit was crushed to an open fermenter over a 25% whole bunch component. This wild yeast ferment was left on skins and gently plunged twice a day for 10 days, before being pressed and sent to seasoned French oak for just 9 months maturation to retain freshness and subtlety in the wine.

Vineyard

Harvested from one of the sandiest parts of the Bracken Vineyard, this fruit is the quintessential example of Blewitt Springs Grenache. Fresh sea breezes from the Gulf of St. Vincent help to moderate warm summer temperatures, while ancient Maslin sands provide the structure and fine-grained tannin for which this subregion is so widely recognized.

Food Pairing

Try this intensely pretty and fresh wine with the richness of crispy duck pancakes.

Cellaring

Drinking beautifully now but will reward the patient for the next 10-12 years.
