2019 Blewitt Springs Grenache

Pretty, Complex + Alluring

A seriously limited release wine with a seriously enticing bouquet. Light floral notes summon a Campari-esque sweetness, while a hint of dried herbaceous green leaf lingers in the background.  French oak derived cedar spice elevates the great to the extraordinary.

Wine Notes

Crushed fruit was put to fermenter over the top of 20% hand harvested whole bunches. Fermented on skins over 10 days, the whole bunches in the bottom of the fermenter were then foot stomped, before pressing to 25% new French oak and 75% seasoned French barriques. The inclusion of whole bunches lends beguiling carbonic maceration flavours of fresh red fruits and lush confectionery, tempered by the subtle herbal freshness of the green stalks.

Sourced from the Wait family ‘Talara’ vineyard, in the Blewitt Springs sub-region of McLaren Vale; this vineyard sits on deep sandy loam over shale soils, dirt that is hugely influential on wine style. Endless structure, and fine-grained tannin are famed in this part of the world.
